Interview with the ladies behind Lime Ricki!
We were excited to get to know the girls behind Lime Ricki and thought you might be too! This interview is full of good stuff… so make sure to read it!
1. Who are the girls behind Lime Ricki?
We are three best friends (we also happen to be sisters) who are juggling the demands of everyday life–husbands, children, carpools, homework, laundry, church responsibilities, PTA assignments, etc, etc. And while our houses might not always be clean (well, one of us has a spotless house, but I’m not saying which one), we are lucky enough to have the amazing chance to work together doing something we love and feel passionate about.
2. Can you share with us what inspired Lime Ricki?
For some time, we had felt frustrated with swimsuit shopping. We were struggling to find suits that weren’t too revealing. (Embarassingly, I learned a valuable lesson from my seven year old daughter, who told me while on a family vacation to Mexico that my suit “just wasn’t very modest, Mommy.”) And the suits we found that were modest, were generally too frumpy. Or boring. But a challenge from Colette’s 13-year old daughter, who shared that same frustration, was the spark that got us talking and planning, sketching and designing. And Lime Ricki was born. That was nearly four years ago, and our goal from the beginning has been to create suits with vivid colors, funky prints and fresh styles. And most important to us is that our suits are playful and fun without over-exposing.
3. Your swimsuits are full of fun colors and fun designs… how do you decide which designs to use?
Each year we come up with more designs than we can actually use, so it can be challenging to decide which ones to use. We generally recycle two or three of our most popular styles from the previous year, but mix them up with new fabrics. And the rest of the designs are decided with an old-fashioned, but rather helpful game of “rock, paper, scissors.” In reality, we actually spend a lot of time in the design process. And each year we learn a lot. Sometimes we are surprised how popular a suit turns out to be, and other times we know before we go into production what our top sellers will be. It’s been an exciting and interesting challenge for us!
4. What is your favorite part about having your own swim line?
This is a three-part answer because I couldn’t make up my mind!
1) Having a fun new collection of suits to wear to the pool each year!
2) Really, working together as sisters is the best part. We generally bring out the best in each other. And as we push and challenge each other creatively, we are finding that we are growing beyond our expectations, both personally and as a company.
3) It’s been exciting and gratifying to see Lime Ricki grow and expand, and most rewarding has been building a loyal following of customers. We LOVE our customers! We love the emails and letters we receive from them! We also appreciate the suggestions and ideas they send in and we take them into consideration each year in the design process.
5. What can we expect to see from LimeRicki in the future? e.g. will we see anymore stores pop up???
We have some exciting things up our sleeves for the coming year! Right now though, we are enjoying our first store in Salt Lake City, which opened in March. While we don’t have any definite plans for more stores, it is something we are considering! So stay tuned as we continue to grow and provide modest options!
6. If you could tell our readers one thing, what would it be?
In a world that is telling women that less is more when it come to dressing, it is refreshing to see the emergence of companies who care about modesty and who are finding that there is a huge audience of women looking for just that! We love that there are many more hip and fashionable options now than there were a few years ago. The key is to look around and find what YOU love, what will make you look and feel comfortable and confident, and that fits your personal style!
Thank you so much Jennifer, Collete and Nicole for letting us get to know you, for providing modest swimwear and for having such a fun giveaway! We look forward to seeing more from you!

I love your suits and love some of the fun prints but could you also do the occasional solid suits? Like a black with red accents? Or a solid red or black?
Keep up the good work in the design area!

I love the coco tankinki with red bottoms. so cute!
I love the emphasis on modesty! It’s great to see so many emerging companies that are focused on providing modest clothing options that are also modern + fashionable.
SMITTEN! By the Kassie tankini top and the stripe regular bikini bottoms. I can’t stop staring at them!
I adore the look of Lime Ricki swimsuits but have found that they DO NOT fit anyone with a C cup or above.
Which makes me so sad . . .
I’m a size 8 (sometimes a 10) with a D cup and have tried on almost every tankini top they’ve made over the last 3 years, yet sadly – still no Lime Ricki suit for me.
All I’ve ended up with is a combined bill of about $40 at the post office for return shipping.
My advice – skip Lime Ricki if you’re bigger than a B cup.
Robyn, I am actually a D cup and the Jennie tankini fits my chest better than any other swimsuit I’ve tried on. Have you tried the Jennie yet? I reviewed it in the post above…
I love this floral pink and yellow suit you have posted! it is so adorable. I’m guessing that it is no longer in stock do you know anything about it? I think the name of the print is Chole but I cant find that specific top. Any help at all would be great =)
