Dear wonderful gals at Sensibly Styled,
I am having a wedding wear problem. Please help if you can.
My sister is getting married in October (Oct.2) in Oakland, CA and it is a “casual dress” wedding. As in, her hubby will be wearing Chuck Taylor’s for the ceremony. She has expressly forbid me- or anyone else for that matter- from wearing a dress at all. This is problematic for me as dresses are what I think I look best in. I purchased a pair of Gap linen pants in deep navy and am desperately searching for something affordable and stylish without being “dressy”. I am 5’5″ and a solid size 12, so I also need something that works for curvy girls like me. Do you think you could help me out?
Thank you so much!!!
Ashley:
I picked out a simple, yet classy top from Ann Taylor for you. They definitely have it in your size. It has some detail at the top to make it more than just a plain blouse but not so much that your sis would suspect you of being dressy.
You won’t believe I’m saying this readers but I would tone down the jewelry so you don’t look like you’re overdoing it.
A few stackable bracelets like the ones below and that lovely statement necklace would be small enough to complete the outfit perfectly.
A sandal would be preferable to make you more casual but since it will be colder I assumed you’d prefer closed toe. I thought this bootie was lovely.
Hope this helps your wedding anxiety.
