This morning, while reading one of my favorite blogs, Stephmodo, I saw a link to a new collection by Narciso Rodriguez. I’m not a designer clothes-wearing kind of girl, but I have always liked Rodriguez’s clothes. (First Lady Michelle Obama wears Narciso Rodriguez all the time, and looks fantastic.) Of course, a cute and simple knit black dress caught my attention, and then I realized, I pretty much already have this dress. Check out the comparison:

I have this dress and believe it to be the perfect casual-on-the-verge-of-nice (business casual?) little black dress. The scoopneck is just the right amount of scoop, flattering without giving away the farm. It looks more sleek than it feels…it feels like you’re wearing a dress made out of your favorite sweatshirt. I seriously love this dress, and wore an outfit similar to outfit #1 just the other day.
Trust me on this one, you’ll love this dress. And it’s on sale. What more could you want?

This is a reminder for myself, but I have a feeling that many of you are in the same boat, right along with me. I am a t-shirt and jeans kind of girl, and that suits my lifestyle pretty well since I’m a stay at home mom of three boys under the age of three. But sometimes, even I get a little tired/bored of my super-soft Gap tees and comfy jeans. Here’s my solution: Cute knit tops!
It’s not a novel idea, for sure. But there are so many options for knit tops out there, and since they’re basically just a dressed up t-shirt, I can’t resist their soft and stretchy powers. I love ruffles, pleats, cowls, plackets, different sleeve lengths…I never met a knit I didn’t like.
So, this spring I’m going to upgrade my comfy style with some fun knits and switch up my jeans with some cute pants. Top everything off with some bangles or a necklace, add some cheap and easy sandals and it’s just as comfortable as your favorite sweats and a baggy tee – but a million times cuter.

Let me clarify, no… this is not affordable to me… it is affordable for being an Anthropologie dress…
So the dress on the left is absolutely perfect… I need it. And when I say need it… this time, I mean it! It is a modest version of the Anthropologie dress on the right that was out last summer. (pictured in this post, second outfit down) And I wanted that dress, but not only was it $178.00, it was also sleeveless, so I would have had to buy a cardigan as well. So yes, this dress is $88.00… but that’s like over $100.00 savings compared to the Anthropologie dress. (haha my husband laughs when I consider buying this dress and tell him that I’m really saving money…)

Is it just me or does this look like a perfect swimsuit cover up? Yes, I know… it’s pretty covering for the beach, but I get burned so easily, I tend to lean towards being more covered if I’m not in the pool anyways.
